My recent stay at Waqoo Naritasan Monzen exceeded every expectation and quickly became the most memorable stop of our entire trip. Below is a detailed, candid assessment for future travelers. 1. Location Nestled halfway along Naritasan Omotesando, the hotel is a leisurely five-minute walk from both JR Narita Station / Keisei Narita Station on one end and Naritasan Shinshō-ji Temple with its landscaped park on the other. Whether you are strolling out at dawn for street-food snacks, visiting the temple precincts, or catching a same-day flight from Narita Airport, logistics are effortless. Clear signposting and a flat approach make rolling luggage to the lobby stress-free. 2. Onsen (Hot-Spring Bath) Water Quality & Cleanliness — The indoor bath is crystal-clear, odor-free, and immaculately maintained; staff wipe down wet areas and test the water several times a day. Privacy — We visited on weekday nights and found ourselves alone on almost every occasion. The experience felt like reserving an exclusive private bath without the surcharge. First-Timer Friendly — As my very first genuine onsen experience, I had no benchmark—but the thoughtful layout, perfect temperature, and post-bath relaxation left me convinced that hot-spring bathing will become a staple of future Japan trips. 3. Guest Rooms Space — Unusually generous by Japanese standards. A standard room comfortably housed three adults, two open suitcases, and still offered ample free floor space. Spotless Housekeeping — Beds, tatami mat edges, and furniture surfaces were dust-free; drawers and hangers were plentiful for multi-night stays. Comfort & Ambience — Excellent sound insulation, responsive climate controls, and a calm décor of light wood and washi accents created a subtle, almost meditative atmosphere. 4. Service and Value Front-desk staff handled check-in in flawless English, arranged stroller storage, and volunteered local dining tips.

We walked from the train station to the hotel, which might not work for everyone as there were some stairs and a steep downhill road. However, we had very few bags, so it wasn't a big deal. We decided to take a taxi from the hotel to the airport. The hotel is lovely! The rooms are huge, and the onsen, which I used twice during our one-night stay, was clean and relaxing! We did not take advantage of the onsite meals, but we would on our next stay. The Naritasan Temple is a must-see, and the shopping street just in front of the hotel offers gifts, street snacks, and nice restaurants, including a couple that specializes in unagi! 10/10 would stay again, especially if you are flying out of Narita Airport!

Everything! This was a last minute addition to our Japan trip and we were so happy we did. We arrived in the evening and did not see the town right away so not sure what to find. The hotel was amazing and the staff exceptional. (The Japanese service was exceptional in general too). They even provided us Yukatas which we wore at breakfast(included in price) and on the street. The traditional breakfast was a great experience too. Oh, and everything on the room bar was free. Plus the landmarks (temple/shrine and park) and shops are all within walking distance. Only 15-20 minutes from Narita International Airport (by taxi).

I booked this hotel for easy access to Narito Airport. It turned out that the 2 days and 1 night in this hotel and the neighbourhood is the highlight of our Japan trip. It is in the middle of winding streets filled with traditional Japanese shops and is next door to the Buddhist Temple with the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. In addition, the hotel is 5 star, in every way. It has the most exquisite baths (onsen), and every detail has been considered to the utmost.

The location was excellent to walk the beautiful and quiet streets of Narita. It is just a few minutes walk to the shrine and park. The room was beautiful stylish Japanese calm. Quiet and clean. All amenities provided. The breakfast was the best I had in our Japanese stays. It cost us 4,000 yen taxi to the airport in busy traffic, which I would recommend rather than the full train to Narita from Narita International and the 15 minute walk from the station.
